Kniest's 50B Sound Class
Visited by Academy Award Winning sound mixer Bob Beemer
Four time Academy Award Winner for Sound Mixing, Bob Beemer, visited with Frank Kniest’s 508 Blue Sound class last week and spent three hours talking about his work, his pathways in the movie business in Hollywood, and his artistic visions.
Frank also ran movie clips of
Gladiator,
Ray, Dreamgirls, and
The Bourne Ultimatum as Bob recounted the recording process, his relationships with the directors, especially Ridley Scott, and the various other films he has worked on including
American Gangster, the
Bourne movies,
Road to Perdition, and
Ron Burgandy, Anchorman.
Bob talked a lot about choices in sound and the various ways the soundtrack is utilized and sonically varied to achieve the artistic choices for story, character, and emotion within the movie.
