Magazine Seeks Writers

US-China Today collaborates with SCA

The online student magazine US-China Today is seeking contributing writers for a special issue in collaboration with the School of Cinematic Arts.

Contributors are asked to write a feature article on a topic related to Chinese media. Potential stories include, but are not limited to:
1.  The growing Chinese film industry and how American production companies are involved
2.  Cinematic censorship in China
3.  Television broadcasting in China, including the rising popularity of sitcoms
4.  International distribution of Chinese films

About The Magazine

US-China Today is a new, student-run online magazine addressing current issues in the United States and China. Our trend-driven feature articles examine topics ranging from Internet restrictions in China to immigration trends to China's space program. The website also features a Daily Updates section, where you can find the China-related stories of the day summarized and linked, all in one place.

We invite you to take a look at the most recent issue of US-China Today at www.uschina.usc.edu and sign up for our email list. We have many opportunities available at the moment, and no experience is necessary. We welcome students of all majors, and there are many great opportunities to develop journalism, multimedia and public relations skills.

Positions Available

•Staff Writer—Interviews sources; researches topics; develops story ideas; brings information to the forefront by writing articles; works with editors to expand writer's skill set.

• Daily Updates Team Member—Reviews, selects and summarizes important stories of the day involving China and/or U.S-China relations from news organizations both in China and in America for most visited page of newsmagazine. Need both those with Chinese reading ability as well as those with English reading ability.

• Multimedia Team Member—Creates multimedia content (pictures, videos, etc.) for online articles. Must be proficient in Adobe Photoshop and Apple Final Cut Pro.

• Public Relations Team Member—Helps increase awareness of US-China Today, both as an opportunity for students to get involved and as an information source for readers.

• Translator—Helps translate phone calls and/or documents for staff writers and editors. Native Mandarin speaker is preferred, but advanced learner is acceptable.
