Ted Braun to Receive Honors
Along with Student Arjun Rihan
Writing Division Assistant Professor Ted Braun will receive a 2008 Phi Kappa Phi Faculty Recognition Award for outstanding achievement at the 27th Annual Academic Honors Convocation on April 7, 2008 at Town and Gown. Chosen from among a large number of submissions, Braun's work writing and directing
Darfur Now was deemed particularly meritorious by the selection committee.
It was also announced that Animation and Digital Arts graduate student Arjun Rihan has been selected to receive the 2008 Phi Kappa Phi Student Recognition Award for his animated film,
Abridged.
Darufur Now, which was produced by Production’s Distinguished Professor Mark J. Harris and written and directed by Braun, was named one of the top five documentaries of the year by the National Board of Review and nominated as one of the best documentaries of 2007 by the Broadcast Critics, the Chicago Film Critics Society and the International Press Academy. It's been nominated for best feature documentary editing by the American Cinema Editors and has also been nominated for an NAACP Image Award for best feature documentary of 2007.
On January 30,
Darfur Now will be the opening film of the Barcelona Documentary Film Festival.
