Production senior lecturer Jed Dannenbaum was quoted  on ABC News in a widely carried story on religion and the new fantasy film The Golden Compass.  The movie is based on books by Philip Pullman, a self-described atheist.

“Something that challenges the prevailing religion in the country will always be controversial,” Jed said.  If Pullman had never mentioned his atheism, people might not have even noticed religious themes in the books or the film, he added.
