Research led by Interactive Media Lab’s assistant professor Christopher Swain was featured in a recent The Chronicle of Higher Education.
Swain and colleagues at the USC Annenberg Center and the USC Annenberg School have developed The Redistricting Game, an online multiplayer game to be released this week, which allows users to compete in various gerrymandering scenarios. Players can manipulate district lines so as to allow politicians to choose voters, rather than letting voters choose their politicians, the story noted. "The game is part of an academic movement to promote games for social change,"Swain said. "It is hoped that the game will be used as a viral, grass-roots lobbying effort to open the public’s eyes to this issue and to get them to take action," he said.
